Appointments, contracts, wills, leases, tax lists, letters, certificates, agreements, indentures and deeds, receipts, promissory notes, and legal papers such as warrants, subpoenas, documents granting power of attorney, pleas, and affidavits pertaining to financial affairs, land dealings, the bigamy trial of David Horton (1808), legal cases, and other issues; many of the papers involve Lucas Elmendorf of Kingston; other family names include Hasbrouck, Rea, Feere, Kyser, DuBois, and Elting. The collection also includes the personal account book of Nelson Terpenning of Esopus, N.Y., 1853.
